Unless such materials are permanently compromised, the answer is usually NO even during the most serious losses. (Hygiene validation should be undertaken to prove cleanliness). However, vapour barriers such as vinyl tiles or wallpaper and ceramics may need to be removed to allow moisture to escape. We only recommend removal of dry lining, plaster finishes and timbers if they have been structurally compromised or have been given an order to do so.
