Do we need to give Hib vaccine to someone who has been on chemotherapy?
Chemotherapy does not obliterate immune memory like a bone marrow transplant does. A person who has already received Hib vaccine will retain immunity after chemotherapy. For persons who have sickle cell disease, leukemia, HIV infection, or who have had a splenectomy, and have never received Hib vaccine in the past, one dose is recommended.
