Do we know anything about the case against Robert Pickton?
There have been sweeping media bans in the past to prevent prejudicial information about the case being released to the public and potential jurors. The trial judge, Justice James Williams, referred during jury selection to complex forensic scientific evidence such as DNA being a component of the trial. Pickton’s pig farm in Port Coquitlam was the location of a nearly two-year search by the police for evidence in connection with their murder investigation. I expect the prosecution to begin with evidence that the six women alleged to have been murdered are indeed dead and not simply missing. Once established, the next phase of the Crown’s case will be to attempt to connect their murders to Robert Pickton.
