Do war machine crews have to test to restrain pursuit? More importantly, what happens to a Liche Priest with the Casket of Souls if he fails to restrain pursuit?

A war machine crew will defend their machine to the last, but wont go haring off after the enemy. Therefore, they may always choose not to pursue with no test required. If a Liche Priest pursues an enemy, he will have left the casket and it would be destroyed (so best not do that).
