Do violent video games cause violent behavior?
Research has shown something of a link between the two, though not as directly, strongly, or cleanly as we might hope. In lab settings, a link has been shown between violent gaming and aggression as well as violent gaming and some aggressive behavior. This is problematic, though, as the context present in a real-life situation differs very much from that found in a lab setting, and often the lab fails to incorporate several confounding variables. In this case, it appears to show much more of an effect than would be present given all of the additional stimulus of being in a real situation. Additionally, the link with aggression as a whole is problematic in that while we like to think that attitudes (and affective states) predictably and meaningfully determine behavior, this is not always the case. It is still a long way from feeling aggressive to actually acting toward another in a violent manner. With this sort of question you have to be careful about how you interpret others’ answers
