Do video games really cause violence?
the first school shooting was in the 60s, well before video games. Lizzy Bordon wasn’t a Grand Theft Auto player. Any evidence for video games = violence is purely anecdotal. You might as well say that having pets causes serial killers since so many of them were found to have tortured small animals when they were kids. If there was a correlation for video games, I would be one of the most violent people around. I’ve got Driver 3, Chronicles of Riddick, Grand Theft Auto Vice City and San Andreas, Half Life 2, True Crime: Streets of New York and L.A., Max Payne 1 and 2, the Call of Duty series and Battlefield 1942 all about 12 inches from me right now. Most people would consider me well adjusted – degree in literature, professional position at a bank, wife of 10 years, 2 kids, house, mortgage, etc, etc, etc. It is all in the parenting.
