Do video games cause violence in young people?
I don’t think so, ive been playing video games for years and i have no violent tendencies and show no violence. I suppose it really depends on the person playing the games, some people believe that the stuff in video games is right and become violent, others know that its wrong and know not to bring it into real life.
I don’t think they actually cause it – the young persons family, friends, peers, school, and local population are probably the main factors in these. If you come from a violent family, live in a violent and high-crime area, or go to a school with lots of rough kids, some of this will rub off on you. However, video games do make violence – and, in some games, pretty excessive violence – seem commonplace and normal. If you are a young person playing these games almost every day, in which you kill, maim, destroy, etc. then you get used to it. Instead of being shocked by it, you become de-sensitised to it and, perhaps, less reluctant to be violent in your daily life.
