Do vets in France know about PETS?
Yes but its still very new. Some vets have been dealing with the system but for others it is the first time. Make sure you know what’s required and be prepared to spend some time going through it with the vet. It is also important that you use a vet that has access to a scanner. These are not common in France. You may prefer to bring your own. As long as a vet has access to a scanner, any registered vet can fill in the certificate for worming. It is wise however to check that the vet you intend to use has copies of the worming certificate as they need to be ordered. A government vet needed to fill in your Pets travel certificate is called a Veterinaire Sanitaire. Please note, some travellers have been turned away from the port as they have not got the correct documentation. It must be an official certificate for PETS and also, for worming, a French vet must now apply to: S.N.V.E.L. – 10, place Lon Blum – 75011 Paris Tel- 01.44.93.30.00 for these certificates so think ahead.
