Do vampires really bite peoples necks and suck their blood?
I’ve already explained why vampires drink blood, but there’s another myth to deal with. All the popular movies such as Interview With The Vampire and Buffy the Vampire Slayer depict vampires drinking blood by biting their victims’ necks. This is not necessarily true. Some vampires say they have “fangs” and others don’t. Some do “bite” their donors, but that’s not always the best idea, especially on the neck. There are lots of nerves on and around the neck, and a great risk of doing permanent nerve damage by biting someone there. It’s much cleaner and safer to use a knife or razor blade or other cutting instrument to obtain blood. And it’s always better not to mess with someone’s neck. Accidentally hit an artery, and the donor will be dead in a matter of minutes. And it makes no sense for vampire to kill his or her source, when it is not required that the donor die in order to feed the vampire.
