Do uterine fibroids ever grow back after UAE?
UAE appears to destroy every fibroid present at the time of the procedure. There is no evidence that UAE changes the underlying tendency of the uterus to form fibroids. So it is conceivable that a woman may grow new fibroids after UAE. In most women there will not be enough time for these to get large enough to cause symptoms. Overall, it appears that the risk of recurrence of symptoms after UAE is low, and is probably lower than after myomectomy. – Robert Worthington-Kirsch, M.D.
