Do u think 17 years old is to start boxing?
not sure what your question is, are you asking if it is too old to start, or too young to start? I’d say neither. It depends on your level of athleticism, your heart, your natural ability and such. There are many professional boxers who have successful careers well into their 30’s, some even in their 40’s, so it certainly isn’t too old. I agree that boxing is a very rough sport, and can be tough on the head and body, especially for someone who is still growing. You can certainly train, and box using head gear and larger gloves to protect your self more until you’re a little older and more physically and mentally ready for the harsh world of professional boxing.
Northern Monkey ~ In my opinion, that’s the best age. Your mind is fairly focused and you have a pretty good idea of what’s involved. The worst thing that happened to me in my childhood was being 8 and drug to the gym and having to spar, my mind was on being a kid and not fighting. I had almost 65 fights by the time I turned 11 years old, by the time I was 16, I thought that I never wanted to smell another gym as long as I lived, but it was too late I was hooked. 17 years old is the perfect age! There’s so much that your mind can absorb while you’re focused. The edge in confidence and the manner in which you carry yourself will be the first things everyone notices about you.
