Do TV shows like “CSI”, “Cold Case”, etc. actually teach intelligent people how to get away with murder?
No. They aren’t that closely based in reality. In most cases, the cops or prosecutors do something that would get the case thrown out of court or at minimum a mistrial declared. The labs aren’t that good yet, though they get better every year. Often, the crime scenes are destroyed by the time the “cops” get there, etc, etc.
