Do those mats that keep freezers frost free work?

There are only two things that keep a freezer frost free. The first, is the freezer itself, if its a self defrosting freezer. If its not a self defrosting, but a manual defrost freezer, the only other thing that makes it frost free is you, by defrosting it manually. I would highly suggest you dont use a screwdriver or a knife to remove any ice, since this often results in someone calling me up and finding out they just destroyed their unit, and instead of paying for a relatively inexpensive repair, they just forced themselves to buy a new unit. Frost is the result of warm air meeting the cold surface of the evaporator in the freezer. If you turn on your unit, you will get frost. You cant prevent frost from occurring in your freezer.
