There’s no such thing as non-prescription birth control pills. You need to get a prescription from your doc first, then go to a pharmacy. Just bear in mind that you need to take the time to find the pill that’s right for you. There’s about 16-20 different types of BCPs on the market and they all have different levels of Progesterone and Estrogen. You have to find the pill that mimics your own hormone levels the best so that you don’t experience any unwanted excess symptoms that tend to come in the form of really bad PMS. It’s up to your doctor to decide, but they might ask you questions about current symptoms and find a way to reduce those while also providing you with protection. Don’t just settle with whatever they give you. If the doc gives you more than three months worth, weight the symptoms after three months and see how you’re doing.
