No, they aren’t going to send you a free PS3… they are going to send you a bunch of spam though… The economics have to make sense from a business perspective. They have a cost associated with each PS3 that they give away. In order for them to make money, that expense has to be offset by income created by the promotion. E-mail addresses don’t sell for much on the internet, but you can sell them to multiple spammers. Either way, you have to sell a lot of e-mail addresses to pay for a PS3, and that’s a hell of a lot of spam A “free” $400 PS3 is the same as getting $400 worth of spam.
