Do the words of the Declaration of Independence still hold true in the U.S.?

Absolutely not. If you doubt that, take a look at the answers given on many of the questions on here. Most of the questions and answers prove that many of them have no idea what the Declaration of Independence or the United States Constitution says and many of those on the left that do know what it says, think it means something else. I am appalled at the total lack of knowledge concerning the two documents that made this country so great and so different from any other country in history and the ignorance of our people concerning the history of this country. Our future as a country is in jeopardy because too many of our schools and colleges do not teach the real history of this country but instead teach their own political view and agenda instead. We are doomed to failure because of sheer ignorance. It is the most expensive commodity we have in this country and there’s plenty of it to go around.

Even more so, our own government is trying to take away more and more of our freedoms, many of the grievances against the crown listed in the Declaration of Independence can be fairly sent to our own government

Yes. When our government ceases to serve their duties to the people we get rid of them. We did this in 1992, again in 2000, and once again in 2008. The words of the declaration remind us that it is our duty, our DUTY, to be politically active to be sure that our government is serving us well. “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security” We are blessed with a Constitution that makes it possible to throw off such a government at the ballot box.

They would if the people would get off their a**ses and remember the part of the declaration that gives us”right of revolution” that is, people have certain rights, and when a government violates these rights, the people have the right to “alter or abolish” that government.

There seems to be a growing misconception by most of our so-called elected officials that the Declaration and the subsequent Constitution and Bill of Rights are from a bygone age and have no weight in our present day society. This is highly INCORRECT as our founding fathers were extremely crafty when they wrote these laws, all of which still have a great deal of meaning today. The Declaration’s words will continue to ring true as long as we the people continue to hold our corrupt govt to them!
