Do the top investment banks in NYC drug test their new recruits?

I’ll be starting in an analyst program at one of the large investment banks this summer, and I’ve been told that drug testing will be performed a few weeks prior to my start date. Most of the analyst programs work in a similar manner – college seniors are hired during the fall for programs starting the following summer – so if you interview for one of these positions, it’s likely that they won’t start you until their analyst class begins, since the entire class goes through training together. Unless, of course, you negotiate an early start date, although I can’t see what you would do before going through training. It seems to me that if you are hired for a summer start date, you won’t be drug tested for several months, so you’ll have some advance warning. Obviously this doesn’t apply if you are interviewing for a operations-type role or at a boutique bank that might be willing to start you right away.
