Do the stories follow the true Myst story?
No. I originally wrote the story as a walk-through to the game. But the game took some creative liberties for the benefit of the player that aren’t possible according to the true story of Myst. For example… • People cannot communicate through a Book. Atrus could never have told you about the white page. • Time stands still in a Prison Book. When Sirrus and Achenar were trapped, they were frozen in a split second in time. They couldn’t communicate with outsiders because they were in a suspended state. Also, according to Cyan sources, when the player is trapped in the Prison Book (Riven), Gehn waited 2 weeks before he attempted to follow the player to D’ni. • We can’t see the other side of a Linking Window. We never would have been able to see Gehn prepare to link into the Prison Book.
