Do the statements about the children of Sarah and Abraham indicate an unconditional “election”?
First we are not told why God selected Isaac and not the other children of Abraham except that Isaac was a child of promise. Second: we know that Sarah was pass childbearing years. Third we assume this was to show that Isaac s conception was the work of God. Fourth: unless we are willing to assume the conception was miraculous, Abraham and Sarah cooperated in God s plan.
