The Service Chiefs recognise the difficult nature of the decisions that have had to be taken. They understand that the Government’s priority is to deal with the fiscal deficit and deliver success in Afghanistan. Given the difficult financial position the department was in and these priorities, the Service Chiefs agree that the SDSR delivers the best available outcome for Defence.
