Do the seasons start with capital letters?
Hi Harriet, No, the seasons are generally common nouns or adjectives. So you usually don’t have to capitalize the seasons, unless they are linked to a proper noun : i.e. -summer holidays (general, therefore not capitalized), but- Shakespearean Summer Festival (specific, thus capitalized). If the seaons are in the titles of the two poems they might , of course, be capitalized. Also, some more traditional poems may personify the seasons, ( “Oh Winter, thou art cruel! “) making them proper names and requiring a capital letter. Hope this helps! -P.
