Do the Scriptures state that salvation or justification is by faith alone?
As far as I know, they do not. The Scriptures do not assert that salvation is by faith alone. If they do the proponents of this doctrine should bring them forward. We want to be truth seekers and not tradition seekers. The Scriptures speak truly but not necessarily exhaustively at any one place What do the Scriptures say? The Scriptures do say, For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. It is possible to see how these words could produce a conclusion that salvation is by faith alone, if you interpret works to mean any response What would militate against this view? First, the very next verse states, For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. In the very least this context should give us pause. Not all works are opposed to grace.
