Do the police have to tell social services and child protection about someone claiming sexual abuse?
Yes the police must contact Child Protection services only if they feel the child is at danger or child abuse has taken place or if CPS is contacted first then they must contact the police as well. The Dept of Social Services is a completely different organization and is basically responsible for housing, foodstamp, and cash aid benefits, however if this organization is called in first because of a recipients neglect or the abuser or choosing to file a complaint than of course this will become a 3 ringed ordeal. In any case an informal report will be processed in writing if by the Dept of Social Services by the recipients request than an informal hearing will take place by CPS and they will determine who will be established to the pending allegations and immediately the Police will be informed as well. Both the police officer{s} and/or the Case worker from CPS will arrive at the childs home/and or school and be questioned as well as both parents and the accused. If no threats are found
