Do the nature and type of compounds change for every race?
Yes. We make four different compounds of dry tyre for the season and bring two of these compounds to each race. The compounds are hard, medium, soft and super soft. We bring two compounds to each race with a gap between them. For example, for the Malaysian Grand Prix we brought the hard and the soft and for the Australian Grand Prix we brought the medium and the super soft. What factors play a part in deciding the compounds? There are a number of factors. The circuit layout, the roughness of the track surface, the likely weather conditions and the average lap speed are the most important factors. For example, how different were the tyres for the Monaco GP and Bahrain GP? We brought the medium and the super soft to Bahrain. For Monaco we brought the soft and the super soft.
