Do the makers of OTC medicines oppose a third class of drugs?
Yes, because we think a change in law is unnecessary. CHPA and its member companies have always advocated for expanded access to OTC medicines through switch. It makes sense to find ways to safely expand access to medicines for consumers whenever possible, and we believe flexibility is built in to the existing framework, with manufacturers having the opportunity to work with FDA and design the appropriate tools to address any challenges to that particular medicine.
