Do the lyrics take a back seat to the actual music?
Tony: No. In today’s music, the pop arrangement and the ways the CDs are laid out don’t move me as an artist. I like interludes and I want that sort of feel. They just don’t have that feel as far as having little pieces of music or something that’s a bit quieter or something that creates a break. I want to have variance. I want to have the masculine and feminine quality to our music. That’s a problem I have with heavy music, it’s all masculine. That macho tattooed muscle-having band is not what we’re all about. What’s usually the focus of your lyrics? Tony: The whole concept of the album literally means “thief” in Spanish. The concept is the thief within and without in society. I don’t think it’s necessarily like our time in society now is different than the past. We’re at a place now where the planet is changing so much.
