Do the light bulbs protrude into the arena or are they recessed, ie, what is the spread of the light: narrow or wide?

The pictures on this page should clarify how the lightbulbs look and their relation to the arena. They are mounted on top of each wall section. The light has a fairly wide spread, as they are just standard white light bulbs with nothing to impede the light they generate.
