Do the Harry Potter series really promote Wicca religion?

There’s zero basis to the allegation. That’s like saying the Wizard of Oz has a hidden Wiccan agenda. This rumopr is most often repeated on hearsay by people who a) have never read a Harry Potter (HP) book b) Have zero idea what Wicca is (and isn’t) c) Have zero idea about modern witchcraft and how it doesn’t even resemble the magical practices in HP The usual argument is that Rowling is trying to lull children into the idea that witchcraft is fun and will want to pursue it in real life, which I find particularly humorous considering HP fans tend to be very grounded individuals. We get all sorts of goofy fans of Charmed and Buffy and the like thinking they want to be like the people on TV, but I’ve yet to meet a single person interested in magic of any sort, much less Wicca, because of HP.
