Do the Germans have problems with big armies?
Maybe the Germans are afraid that someone would again be a warmonger but I do not think so that’s the point for the majority of Germany. Main reason is that their army is large enough with very good and modern material for the defence of Germany. Germany has no oversea interests, no ex-colonies where they still have economical interests. Why should they have a bigger army or navy ? If it hasn’t changed, they have still conscripts, so if necessary the army can be doubled in no time with a lot of reservists. In fact the problem is not the Germans that do not trust a huge German army, some neighbours still fear the Germans in a certain degree. If they should start rearming to a bigger army larger than needed, Russia will become very upset and glasnost to the west would immediately stop. Not to mention Poland, Oekraine, other old Warchau pact countries. About the British and American forces in Germany, this is more historical than needed.
