Do the filters inhibit the flow of water through the drain inlet?

The filters have been uniquely designed to filter large amounts of runoff without impeding the drain’s designed hydraulic capacity. Due to the filter medium’s hydrophobic nature (ability to repel water), water is able to flow smoothly through the filter while hydrocarbons are trapped. During heavy flows which exceed flow-through-capacity, the filter allows the excess to flow over the inside edge of the filter tract and spill into the center of the storm drain. For curb inlet units the heavy flows are simply released to the rear of the inlet.
