Do the economic benefits of deforestation in the Amazon region outway the social and environmental costs?

I would say no because the economic benefits won’t last forever because the trees need a lot of time to regrow. Also even though it has some economic benefits animal species become extinct because of the deforestation. Plus there are many cures for diseases and illnesses that could save lives. It also forces native tribes to adopt new ways to live. There is a way to avoid all of this, what you would have to do is clear an area of land and just rotate the trees, like one year you cut trees in one area while in the other areas you grow new trees, but the forest is not just cleared for wood, it is also just burned to make way for cattle which don’t need as much room as we once thought they needed. The only benefits I can think of are a short time supply of wood and paper products. I would say that the environmental costs are too great to be over looked.
