Do the DRA performance expectations apply to English Learners (ELs) also?
Yes, the same expectations apply to Fluent English Proficient (FEP) students and ELs. Additionally, for ELs in Biliteracy programs, the same expectations apply for the Evaluacin del desarrollo de la lectura (EDL). All ELs need a Learning Contract in English; some may also be below or far below expectations on the EDL. Additional language development criteria for ELs are considered at the end of the year when the promotion/retention decision is to be made. At that time, Grade 1 ELs who are far below in reading (DRA, DRP) and English language development (SOLOM 15 or below) would be considered for retention.
