Do the cruise lines operate their own spas?
Most dont. As with the operation of their gift shops and casinos, many cruise lines prefer to employ outside companies to operate their shipboard spas. Steiner Leisure is by far, the favored choice. This worldwide company includes the Mandara Spa, Greenhouse Spa & Salon, Elemis and other familiar spa services and product lines. But this does not mean that spas aboard every cruise line are the same! Each line contracts with Steiner Leisure and its subsidiaries to create a unique spa program with variable services and service levels. And each line independently makes decisions as to spa square footage and facilities such as hydrotherapy pools, sanctuaries, ceramic loungers, etc.
