A. Unfortunately, the existing Application Templates for Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 as downloaded from TechNet will not simply run once installed on a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 server deployment. However, Microsoft has provided upgraded versions of those Version 2.0 templates that are compatible with the new platform. Upgraded Version 2.0 templates, along with guidance and tools for upgrading custom sites and templates, are available in the upgrade toolkit.
