Do the 2012 Mayan Prophecies Foretell the End Times?
It is important when we consider the End Times in relation to the Mayan prophecy, that we first understand what the End Times actually are. They have importance both to the three branches of Abrahamic religions (those being Islam, Christianity and Judaism) as well as others who believe that apocalyptic events are near, in a soon to occur Armageddon. For many cultures this is a period of time that will herald the start of a great deal of tribulation. There will be wars and great destruction before the final coming or return of the messiah. The identity of the messiah changes by culture and faith, but his return is to shepherd his chosen people back into an era of peace as he once again takes up his position as ruler.
