The CBT user interface is designed so that someone with minimal computer experience is able to test on the computer. The usability study conducted during PHASE 1 of the GED Testing Service CBT project led to modifications that further improved the user interface. Basic keyboarding/typing skills are highly recommended to take the Language Arts, Writing Test on computer. Each candidate for computer-based testing will have a tutorial available at the testing center and prior to taking the test found at www.pearsonvue.com/GED. Some of my adult learners have a problem using computers; will there be assistance for these students? A tutorial will be available at the testing center and online to help candidates become familiar with the CBT format before testing. The Usability Study conducted in CBT PHASE 1 to learn about candidates’ ability with the computer-based format showed that only basic computer skills were necessary to successfully complete the test.
