Do Temporary and Unclassified positions adhere to the same rules and regulations as Classified positions?
No. These positions are not covered by the City of Miami Civil Service Rules. Applicants for Temporary and Unclassified positions are subject to a qualification process where an applicants education and experience (if applicable) are assessed based on the job requirements as stipulated in the job specification to determine eligibility. Some Unclassified positions are filled at the appointment, approval, and discretion of the City Manager. Terms and conditions for grant funded positions may vary based upon the conditions and specifications of the grant. Part-time positions that are for life safety classifications or those requiring licensure or certification will also be subject to a qualifications review.
