Not typically in Navy boot camp. Some of the recruits that are close to leaving boot camp can be taken home by a family that lives nearby, about 10% of the recruits in boot camp. If I had been closer to graduation, I would have been able to go home just because my mom lived 100 miles from base, but I was 1 week away from being able to do that. So I spent Christmas in boot camp, which was fun *sarcasm*, random RDC’s (Recruit Division Commanders) showing up to make the division do push-ups as our Christmas present.
