Do students need IELTS or TOEFL?
Whilst offers were made unconditionally in the past, from Sept 2003 all students will need to obtain a good IELTS or TOEFL score, regardless of whether the High Commission or the Institute has requested one. YES firmly believes that genuine students should make an effort to improve their English if they intend to study in a country where tuition fees and living costs are high, to ensure that they are fully equipped. In this regard it is questionable when a student does not intend to make the necessary preparations and can make the difference between obtaining a visa and being refused. It may be added that to successfully study, one must be able to comprehend reading passages, write in a planned manner, give oral presentations in seminars and last but not least understand lectures. As such students will need the four basic skills that are taught in IELTS. So it is a very wise idea to start preparing for IELTS immediately.
