Do students have to take four AS levels in year 12?
No. This is the norm for the majority of students, but some take five, often Maths and Further Maths plus three other AS levels or very occasionally five separate subjects. Some students take only three AS subjects, especially if retaking a GCSE in Maths or English or if other circumstances dictate, for example health reasons or national sporting commitments.
