Do students always get the full number of points possible when taking a quiz?
No. In order for students to get all the points available for a book they have read, they must pass their quiz with a high percentage. A lower percentage correct will equate to low or no points. Occasionally, students try to take a quiz after they see a movie at home usually with disastrous affects. The predictable low score causes their comprehension percentage to tumble and a red flag to go up for the teacher. This “cheating” is thwarted by most teachers by making students tell them about the book before they are permitted to take a quiz. • ¨ Is AR used to determine any grades? Yes. A portion of each student’s Reading grade is determined by their AR performance. The amount is different for each grade level, but a grade is registered as the percent of the AR goal met.
