Do Storks Bring Babies?
A group of researchers in Germany (Hofer et al, 2004), found that the higher the stork population around Berlin, the higher the rate of out-of-hospital births. There was no correlation between the stork community and the rate of births in hospitals. This research teaches us that when it comes to research, correlations do not always mean causality. In other words, just because things appear at the same time, doesn’t mean the one necessarily causes the other. As far as the immortal question “where do babies come from?”, just in case the point is not clear, storks do NOT bring babies. Sex does.
