Do spindle lengths have to be accurately measured?
You have to be certain that the spindle engages through the locking mechanism gearbox. It is possible to use a slightly longer length but you must make sure that it is not too long, otherwise the handle will not sit down on your frame. Test the depth by inserting a small implement of a pencil size through the hole in the frame until it can be inserted no further. This is the very maximum length you can use.
