Yes. The PCP should authorize all services that a patient is required to have. The PCP is able to authorize a specialist to consult, test, and/or treat a patient at the PCP’s discretion. This may cover follow-up care for up to 90 days. Please keep in mind that MHS/NHP does not have to be contacted unless the specialist is not contracted with MHS/NHP or is on the list of those requiring PA.
