Do some men really lay down their jackets so their woman can walk over a rain puddle?

I would wonder about the benefits of actually doing it… if the puddle is deep enough to actually go into the shoe of the woman, there is little that a jacket would do to protect the foot as the water would rush into the pocket from the edges of the jacket. If the puddle is small enough to be covered by the jacket completely and protect the foot, it’s small enough to be stepped over. A helping hand for stability while she hops over it would be a kind gesture or making her aware of it before stepping in it and directing her around it would suffice.
