Do some forms of HRT increase the risk of womb cancer?
The risks of taking long term Hormone Replacement Therapy areraised again today in an article published in The Lancet. This shows that some forms of HRT increase the risk of endometrial or womb cancer. The research is part of the “Million women” study, where they recruited more than 700,000 postmenopausal women from the UK aged 50-64. This latest study shows that women using oestrogen-only HRT or a synthetic HRT treatment called tribolone had almost twice the risk of developing womb cancer.
