Yes, some art stores do sell Unrefined Cold Pressed linseed oil, but some of the labels of American produced oil, downplay its importance, and even denigrates it as an ‘inferior’ oil. This misleading ‘advertising’ is designed to promote the sale of the inexpensively mass produced Alkali REFINED oil. Alkali refined linseed oil offers the artist of today two things: convenience and low price, and it provides the manufacturers with two things: convenience and profits. Generally speaking, European produced cold pressed linseed oil is much more expensive than the American brands.
