Do snow tires make a big difference on how a bmw handles in the snow?

Honestly – it depends. It depends on how much snow. If you’re someplace where you must always drive through 8+ inches of snow, then yes. Snow tires will help. But you should also have snow tires on all 4 wheels to ensure consistent handling, steering/cornering and stopping. If you’re in an area that gets snow occasionally and/or you drive on roads that are usually plowed, then a good set of all season tires at all 4 wheels will do the trick. But just as important, maybe even more important, when driving in winter conditions, slow down and try and avoid making sudden stops, and change direction carefully.
