Do sheer nylon socks cause sweaty feet?
Well this is a good question. Some say yes, some say no. Personally my feet sweaty in any socks, nylon or cotton. I think what makes the difference is that cotton absorbs more of the moisture from the foot whereby nylon or rayon absorb less. Also cotton allows more of an evaporating effect than does nylon or rayon. The down side is that cotton, and wool socks as well, while they keep feet dryer, they don’t last as long as they tend to wear at the point where the shoe rubs the back of the heel, and also cotton socks, particularly dark colors, tend to fade quicker. Nylon will last for years without fading. Mercerized cotton on the other is a good compromise between nylon and cotton. You get the feel and absorbency of cotton with the stylish look of nylon. The drawback however is that mercerized cotton will fade over time an also and they tend to be lent magnets.
