Well first of all, you will not be able to send the message if the attachement or the actual message reached the limit. So the sender will know right away that the email message is "excessive in size"Whether its a free web base email like Yahoo or a company email, you won’t be able to send your message if you exceeded the limit. Try it.

No. As AT&T Internet Services does not detect or restrict the size of outbound email messages, we cannot notify either the senders or the recipients that an email message has not been delivered due to the message exceeding the 8 Mb size limit.
